About & Methodology
How we calculate infectious disease risk scores worldwide
Our Mission
Global Disease Risk Radar provides free, real-time infectious disease risk assessments for travelers, healthcare workers, and residents worldwide. We combine official health data, global news monitoring, and environmental factors to deliver actionable risk scores across 99 cities and 10 diseases.
Data Sources
WHO / CDC
Official disease outbreak reports and epidemiological bulletins from the World Health Organization and CDC RSS feeds.
Global News
Real-time news monitoring via GNews API tracking disease-related articles across international media.
Weather Data
OpenWeather API provides humidity and temperature data — key environmental factors for vector-borne diseases.
Scoring Methodology
Each city-disease pair receives a risk score from 0 to 100. The score is a weighted combination of three factors: official outbreak reports (50%), news coverage intensity (30%), and environmental conditions (20%).
Formula:
Score = (Official × 0.5 + News × 0.3 + Weather × 0.2) × 100
Update Frequency
Risk scores are updated every 6 hours. Prevention guides are generated using AI and reviewed periodically. All data is sourced from publicly available information.
